When something goes wrong on the side of the road in Catskills — a flat at midnight, a dead battery in a parking lot, a flood pushing into your driveway — someone has to come.

Since 2018, that someone has been Chavivim.

Every summer, the mountains fill. Tens of thousands of families come up from every corner of New York and New Jersey — settling into bungalow colonies, summer camps, and country homes that turn Sullivan County into one big extended community for the season. We're right there with them. Because Chavivim is one network across every division, the volunteers who summer up here slot into our roster alongside our year-round members — same training, same dispatch, same answer when the phone rings. So when a family's locked out of the bungalow at bedtime, when a flat tire strands them on Route 17, when a pipe freezes in January — someone in the mountains is already on the way.

Locally, we're who you call when waiting isn't an option, when towing isn't the answer, and when you'd rather hear a familiar voice on the other end.

  • Roadside & recovery Tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, winch recovery, scene-safety practice — covered before a member ever takes a call alone.
  • NYS DEC certified SAR Our search-and-rescue technicians complete 110+ hours of training and meet the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation standard — the same credential held by state Forest Rangers. Meet the SAR team →
  • Continuous drills Refreshers, equipment checks, and incident-management practice — never one-and-done. The first call to a new member should look like their fiftieth.
